Then there are newer, equally efficient machines made with new technology and modern materials.  Here are the best-known sewing machine brands: Baby lock Bernina Brother Elna Husqvarna Viking Jaguar A lot of people like to know where their machines are manufactured and while that does affect pricing, I would not prioritize this information when purchasing a new machine.   SQUARE IN A SQUARE QUILT BLOCKS There are a number of ways to put this block together. Some say as many as ten ways, but they are all variations on basic ways, which I will break down and explain here. SUPPLIES FABRIC  - Closely woven cotton is best. SEWING SUPPLIES  - Thread, pins, sewing machine. CUTTING TOOLS  - Scissor, quilting ruler. PRESSING TOOLS  - Iron and ironing board. STEPS TO MAKE QUILT BLOCKS   STEP 1 Cut 3 squares with the measurements for, Center block 4" (4 inches square box) First Square 4" Second Square 5" Cut them in diagonal shape STEP 2 Press or pin each of your pieces in half to have a center alignment spot. Sew them in place, using a ¼” (6mm)seam. STEP 3 Now pin the second pair of triangles to the remaining sides of the square, matching the centers again. Sew into place. Open out and press.
